You’ll Unlock From Me

Font Size

You’ve intrigued me,
just a little peek
and nothing more.

There’s time for the undoing,
the slow crawl of stars
edged towards glowing dawns

When you’ll unlock from me
and take the memory of us
having no beginning or end.

Until that early summer morning,
streets slick with the previous
rain that was our deafening chorus.

Until that precise moment
you drive home to be alone
and my apartment’s full of ghosts.

Just a peek for now,
I’m already intrigued
and nothing more.

There’s time for velocity,
the playful skipped beats
pounding in our chambers

When blood calls out
in that visceral tongue
you and I know best.

You’ll unlock from me soon enough,
make scattered albums through
images and clues of me and you.

Until that early summer morning,
sky stubborn with gray and heat,
the slow crawl of sweet humid mist

Where I have never been able
to accurately note the music,
the shapes to come with you.

Until that quiet sudden undoing,
the secret flare almost
too far away for me to hold…

Just a peek
and nothing more.

You’ve already intrigued me.
