Would You Still Walk With Me?

"The price of their love."

Forgive me for asking;

But this I have to know,

When I cast my eyes back

In distant years to come;

How many pairs of footprints,

Would I see there in the snow?

When our flames of passion

That once burnt bright and strong,

Slowly dims and gives it’s final light

Our youthful lust just an old memory,

Would you still walk with me?

When I fall to my knees, we both know that I will

And from dusk till dawn, I weary you with my painful tears,

All the while not sparing a thought for those

You’ve silently hid behind a smile,

Would you still walk with me?

When all my secrets, shame and guilt

Is finally revealed for the world to see,

And all our friends and family

Point their mocking fingers at us,

Would you still walk with me?

When I forget as I’ve been known to do

Those special days that we hold so dear,

If through tear stained eyes I come to you

And ask your forgiveness yet again,

Would you still walk with me?

When the unforgiving years creep up on me

And leave my tired bones aching and sore,

Or perhaps my hair will lose it’s color

And grow just a little too thin,

Would you still walk with me?

If you will promise me now;

That when we look back in years to come,

We’ll still see two pairs of footprints in the snow.

Then I will promise you now

With a jubilant song and a smile;

My heart and soul

Even all that I am

Will forever belong to you.
