Then There Was You

"Rethinking what is meant to be"

Font Size

I never believed in fate

That anything might be preordained

Meant to be

I am full of contradictions

Both rational and romantic

Even spiritual sometimes

But not in a religious sense

My spiritual experiences were

The result of beauty

The symphony, paintings, words

The golden light of Tuscany

Paris at dusk

Those were my transcendental moments

But then there was you

I have been loved before

But never like this

So tenderly and passionately

I don’t think I have ever

Been held so dear

Adored so much

So maybe there is a force

That we call fate

That sent you to me

Over the ether

Into my life and my heart

This was unexpected

A leap into the unknown

But then there was you

With your arms open to catch me

And love me, always

So I thank my lucky stars

The universe, fate, karma

Whatever the force is

In the chaos of life

That brought you to me

I might believe now

Because there is you
