I left the house before the sun rose
the grey-blue light of dawn
accompanied me upon my walk to work.
I left work for summer air
an hour till the setting of the sun;
by the time I reached my door
’twas nearly as dark as when I left
If only you would be there
with gentle arms and soft word.

*

I was wishing you to paint me in colors of dusk
under amber night lights
with strokes of nature’s delicate song
dripping with spring liquid
in the fragrant still of the moment
rivers of our love rushing to meet
before the moment gone
waterfalls of pleasure our love canvas

*

Then with your throbbing warmth,
you would fill me, body and soul
