both light and immense with your presence,
certain we turn as all planets do,
beyond our dense human understanding,
rotating alone through immeasurable space.
Adrift and finally aware of our own frailty,
even the slightest touch is enough
to promise us we are never truly alone,
that some core in us always remains aglow.
And carved through it all,
waters, sediment, the fresh earth,
particles we chart bare understandings of,
past all the tissue memory and inner rivers,
the bloodstreams mapping what drives us…
I dreamed of you for years,
given only enough clairvoyance
to glean vague outer shapes,
depths you are fluidly crafted from.
I was never closer to another before,
both precise and shapeless with your presence,
certain a planetary pull steers us
beyond our faithless human understanding,
adrift for ages in our immeasurable frailty.
Even the slightest touch can carve through it all,
careen straight through what science may claim
and promise us that we’re never truly alone.
I’m only given enough clairvoyance for now
to entirely lose myself in your planetary pull.
I’ll never be this close to anything again.
