It rolls in through windows
doors and hearts left open
It roars through walls
knocking you flat
Which is it, a plus
or a poison?
Many have felt its pull
Wrapped in magic wings
Bringing a light, a reason
To finally sit up and live
All seems brighter
Your heart’s weight is lighter
Breathing deep, you revel
In a feeling, that stays even in sleep
Passion and love, oft mentioned
Hand in hand, do they always go
Is it a healthy way to live
At ten each and every day
Yes for a time, you can’t deny
It’s pull and drape over your life
You don’t want to live without
Your heart and mind proclaim
All well and good to those
In passion’s loving embrace
But what about the flip side
Passion’s cousin, its evil face
Passion does not belong
Just to those who love
Wanting nothing but it
The happy ending and all
Passion can go the other way
Directed at one who does not
Feel the same coaster of emotions
You have intruded into their days
There is a danger in passion
Not shared and consented by two
The need to protect yourself
Is real with that passion’s face
It can also be felt for things
Not of the human variety
Passion for unhealthy desires
What can you say about that
Passion is passion in all its forms
Love, sex, relationship goals
Living the dream with the other
You both feel the same
Passion is passion even
When directed at things
Not a suitable lover or mate
One can feel it for things not so nice
Gambling, drinking, cheating and on
No denying the passion involved
But passion can be directed
Too at some things not vice
Sports, careers, hobbies
We’ve all felt a passion for these
The only thing perhaps
That we can agree
Is passion is everywhere
For love, justice and life
Just about anything you can name
Passion for love, remember
Is not its only course
It meanders and weaves
But hopefully enters and stays
Leaving its positive mark
A stamp in our passport
Through life we can travel
And we remember, when passion was first felt
