Never Me

"Fantasy fail.."

Font Size

If I could change anything,

I would.

There was always someone else,

I understood.

It wasn’t that we were so bad,

We were good.

You just didn’t want me,

Never could.

The heart has many chambers,

Where truth can hide.

We laughed and loved and fought,

Then cried.

Whispers once meant to draw us close,

Became silence and died.

Until my mere presence near,

You can’t abide.

We spoke of many things,

A life of fantasy.

Trust built within seduction,

Our desires set free.

We told the most hidden of forbidden,

Protected in privacy.

Pursuing pleasure and desire,

Escaping boundaries.

Always in your mind,

Another was there.

You spoke of him often,

I didn’t care.

Content within the role you gave me,

Didn’t compare.

To the one you really wanted,

Your life to share.

Memories with him,

Never relent.

In the throes of desire,

Things said weren’t meant.

My fantasies were discarded,

Broken and bent.

I now understand you,

Message sent.

A strange pair we made,

Not two.. but three.

Our time together,

Was pure fantasy.

But the MF in your dreams,

Was always he.

Now we know the truth,

It was never me.

Love is a gamble,

A loser’s bet.

Like trying to catch butterflies,

Without a net.

Hardest lessons learned,

Is all you get.

A heart used and broken,

I will never regret.
