Pain creeps in like a villain in the dark
It is a formidable opponent to battle
The contrast it creates is quite stark
My curvy body, is so readily sexual
But it now betrays me while lying here
I can feel the pain’s grip on me so strong
My whole body shivers as I also feel fear
My veins are filled with liquid adrenaline
My body ignited as the blood courses
How unfair to be betrayed by your body
Strong feelings of self hate that it forces
As I plead for sleep with yet no relief
I see dawn’s light filter in like salvation
The light means that I survived again
A night of pain beyond imagination
Dawn also means I get to hear his voice
It comforts me like nothing ever before
As he says good morning on the phone
The pain recedes, for now I won the war
A silent tear traces its way down my cheek
As I try to convince him that I am really okay
I try to be grateful for the new day beginning
But I know my bedfellow pain is here to stay
I know tonight again the villain will visit me
But I choose to fight and wait for days light
He doesn’t realize that each day he saves me
For without him I would be to weak to fight
