love is a flower

"just a simple poem"

Font Size

the sun filters downward through the treesĀ
rays of color dancing on leaves

flickering greens and yellows
before finally reaching outward

it stands alone, apart from the rest
stem bending, browning

purple leaves curling inward
darkening on the edges

once upon a time
the flower stood tall

bathed in bright sunlight
caressed by the breeze

fluttering and swaying, dancing
light as a feather

creatures stopped and admired it
sniffing at its delicate fragrance

now it stands alone
forgotten, unadmired

its scent almost gone
brightly colored petals fading

there is no such thing as beautiful as new love
admired, and joyed

but the pain of loss, of heartache
leaves one wilted and alone

bending, seeking
longing for the warm rays of the sun

once again to touch my petals

and make me beautiful again
