Lost Regret

We’d been trading shy smiles ever since we first noticed each other at the beach. Both in our late teens, tall and slim, we could have been sisters.

Then, early one morning I saw her beckoning me. The ebb tide had left a crevice between two huge boulders. She took my hand, and we managed to squeeze through, and on a little patch of damp sand, she kissed me and all in a rush we stripped and made love.

Recently, by chance, I found the place again, but I could no longer squeeze through.

I just wept and wept.
