Lost Before Found

Gliding
Drifting
Gently stepping into my heart

Did you even know you had entered
That empty chamber
Unfilled for so long

Surely you didn’t
Or you wouldn’t have left so abruptly
With echoing footsteps of denial
As I sighed

Gossamer gowns of forgotten dreams
Still not lived
Nor loved
Draped about
Aristocratic shoulders
Of desire

Desired but unmet
Reaching out
To be nothing special
Once more

Nothing special
Am I
But smiled upon
And touched by the hand of friendship
Not love
As you moved into and then away

With a wave

From your warm
Delicate hand
He slipped his arm
About you

This is about you
And you don’t even know it
But the streaming filaments
Of your essence
Linger in my heart
