Kintsukuroi (n.) (v.phr.)  “to repair with gold”; the art of repairing pottery with gold or silver lacquer and understanding that the piece is more beautiful for having been broken

Warm hands slip over my body

As lips press gently onto my skin

The girl I watch from afar

Close to me at last

I wonder what she sees in me

But she seems to see me

Exactly as I am

All my flaws and fractures

I have often felt imperfect

But she makes me feel like I shine

My breaks filled with gold

Become beautiful

She is forbidden fruit

And like Eve I go there anyway

My eyes open to my sin

Regret fills me – realisation sets in

She is beautiful and I am not worthy

My hands should never make contact with her

Nor my lips speak her name

But she sees me – consequences be damned
