Invitation to new life
Gate of a new life
opened to me
Slowly I step
and ponder
what comes to me
If I were to leave
what lies beyond?
Many a times
I wait till sunset
Just to see
if the door ajar
Sitting still
I dare not move
certain not to go far
The place has come
to agree with me
As I am a part
of the majestic scene
Within these walls
I cry and laugh
Trying to recollect
memories of past
wonder if I leave
will I be safe?
Will I survive?
Will I be free?
gates open to me
yes, it is true
Yet if I leave,
will my steps lead
to you?
That’s how I think
and express
to you
even if the gates
remain unlocked
I would never step
outside these walls
walls have been inked
branded in my soul
with tears and sorrow
caging me for ever.
