I Don’t Care

I don’t care.

I am not waiting for the right time. I am not waiting for anything.

You don’t have to shave or wax, you don’t even have to wash. Coming from the gym? All sweaty? A bit skanky?

I don’t care.

It’s your period? A bit messy down below?

I don’t care.

It has been too long. Much as I love you, I find that time makes me forget the little details, where the dimples of cellulite are, or the stretch marks, or even that little scar from when you had kid number one. Or was it number two?

I don’t care.

You have to wash up, you say. Maybe trim a bit. Maybe freshen up?

Why? It has been so long, and after all we have shared, do you think I care?

I don’t care.

How you smell. How you taste. How you feel.

I don’t care.

I don’t want you because you smell like flowers or taste like fresh berries.

I don’t want you because your skin is flawless and hairless and smooth and silky.

I don’t want you because you don’t leave wet spots on the sheets. From sweat. Or from…anything.

I don’t care and I have never cared.

I just want you.

Now. Anyway. Anywhere. Anyhow.

Now.

And always.
