Breath

Stretched out on my stomach
Face down on the bed
Your warm lips start to hover low
Inching up my legs

Sensation that I can’t describe
No touch, but so intense
My insides turn and twist like twine
Release, then twist again

With feather breaths you reach my spine
The valley where it dips
Then slowly curve along its line
As warmth floods through my hips

My skin comes desperately alive
A part, apart, aware
A non-touch tracing only here
Felt there, and there, and there

Soft between my shoulder blades
I feel your breath caress
The pulse within my throat throbs strong
Beating down into the bed

Your wordless whispers’ gentle powers
Rise up over me
Like wading slowly into water
Shallow out to deep

Or watching waves glide on the sand
Their liquid fingers reach
And ripple up the solid shore
Sparkle there, then sink

Higher now, behind my neck
You finally place your mouth
And with such skill and mastery
Your hands turn me around.
