Absence Makes Hearts Grow Fonder

"being on call spoils the party but could make the evening elsewhere"

“I think that’s my nomination for hostess of the year in the bin,” Fiona said, looking at her guests with a frown.

Being on-call was easy money, but once in a while, Fiona was reminded of its perils. She had invited her friend, Tasha, and her neighbour, Jake, to have dinner with her, but there had been a meltdown with the IT systems, and she had no choice but to take control and try to sort it out.

Fiona had got to know Jake well enough to realise he’d walk Tasha home when the time came, although she’d had enough conversations with Tasha to know she might be in no rush to go far. Fiona thought Jake was just the right man to help build Tasha’s confidence, and although he’d never mentioned it, Fiona felt sure Jake also found Tasha very appealing.

Although sharing a meal in Fiona’s flat felt a little strange when she was absent, Jake and Tasha were soon finding out more about one another. It had crossed Tasha’s mind that Fiona’s sudden disappearance had been manufactured, but she didn’t share her suspicions with Jake. Had she done so, she would have found him thinking exactly the same.

Once they had eaten, Tasha sat down on Fiona’s sofa and gestured to Jake to put his clearing-up duties on hold and sit next to her. Jake needed no second invitation, although he was aware from what Fiona had told him that Tasha found certain situations difficult, even if she hadn’t gone into detail with him on the subject.

Jake and Tasha knew a little about each other from what Fiona had told them and the brief exchanges they had shared when Tasha had visited Fiona previously. This meant their conversations had already covered the basics, so they could discuss the topics that arose easily and without awkwardness.

As the conversation flowed. Tasha and Jake were relaxed, smiling, and happy. This was a joy to them both, and to her own surprise, Tasha found herself voicing her earlier suspicions about Fiona’s sudden emergency to Jake.

“At least we can share our guilt if we’re wrong, as I was thinking the same thing, too,” Jake said, giggling after listening to Tasha’s thoughts on her and Jake finding themselves alone together.

Despite having found herself alone with men of interest previously, Tasha didn’t feel any of the anxiety she had before. She was convinced Jake getting a big build-up from Fiona was the main factor, but Tasha also sensed that Jake would find her baggage just another part of her personality, as opposed to a barrier or an inconvenience.

When Tasha looked at Jake, her mind filled with a plan that took shape as she saw kindness in his eyes. What she had in mind would be a challenge, and she knew she would need everything to be just right, but she felt there was more of a chance of that than she had ever imagined.

Jake listened as Tasha explained that she needed to share something with him but felt she could only do so if she wrote down the details and left Jake to read her thoughts in her temporary absence. Tasha said that once Jake understood her unusual plan, he’d be able to express his own thoughts in whatever way he wanted to.

Although Jake was interested in the details Tasha wanted him to read, his first thoughts were about the courage it must have taken for her to open up to him as much as she had already.

Jake held out his arms, which joined Tasha’s in a long, silent embrace. Tasha’s lips eased onto Jake’s in a way only they understood, and they remained locked until Tasha walked into her bedroom to write down her thoughts as she had planned.

The ease with which Tasha was able to commit her plan to paper told her all she needed to know. Her battle would never be an easy one, but the excitement of just the hope of success was exhilarating.

Tasha called Jake into her bedroom as soon as she had finished writing. As he took the note, Jake realised Tasha had decided to stay with him as he read. When Jake asked Tasha if she was sure she wanted to remain with him, the fact that he had asked convinced her that the decision to do so was correct.

Tasha placed her head on Jake’s chest as he held her hand and read what she had written. Tasha had outlined the background of why she struggled with moving on from the past. It was a difficult read for Jake, but nothing to the pain he knew Tasha would have felt experiencing it. Tasha explained in her note that she had never felt more hopeful of moving forward as she did as she wrote and that if Jake would escort her on her planned journey, she knew it would show him to have the qualities she already believed he had.

The details of Tasha’s plan were explicit but unambiguous in a way she knew they had to be to allow Jake to understand what he was getting himself into.

‘What makes me feel more confident than I have ever done before is that I believe what others would see as a burden, you will see as a privilege. That’s why I’ll be sending a message to Fiona to say we’re about to leave hers to go back to my flat and that I don’t anticipate you leaving it until tomorrow morning at the earliest.’

As Fiona worked to resolve the system issues that had arisen, she checked an incoming message on her phone. She had expected it to be a request for an update regarding work, as opposed to her guests’ unexpected evening alone.

“Thank you, IT Gods; I owe you one,” Fiona said to herself with a broad smile.

Tasha held Jake’s hand tightly as they made their way back to her flat. In her head, they were sprinting, but in reality, it was a slow walk, full of pauses to enjoy slow kisses and smiles of understanding. Jake may have read some painful truths about her past, but he just wanted to make her smile, giggle, and feel special by being himself, and Tasha loved it.

“Being anxious when imagining a lovely man whispering delicious naughtiness in your ear? That’s not happening!” Tasha said as Jake explained that he shared Tasha’s optimism.

Leading a man into her flat with the planned agenda was something Tasha had never imagined happening without emotions of terror, anxiety, or panic, and yet here she was. If she had been asked to explain what made Jake’s presence bring only hope and excited anticipation, Tasha wouldn’t have had an answer, but her mind and body were telling her that she didn’t need one.

Jake knew Tasha’s best hopes rested on fun being her top priority. Even though this was true, Jake felt he needed to ask a question as Tasha led him to her bedroom.

“Can I keep your note handy? I want to make sure I stick to your script, and I wouldn’t trust my memory as far as I could throw it,” Jake confessed, raising his eyebrows with comic exaggeration.

“That’s not a problem. I’ll even let you write ‘Tasha’ on the back of your hand if it helps,” Tasha said, relieved to see Jake knew she was teasing him with his laughter.

Once they had removed their clothes, Jake and Tasha stood beside Tasha’s bed and shared a timeless kiss. Seeing Jake erect confirmed his excitement. This mattered so much to Tasha, given what she had asked of him without offering anything but seeing her joy in return.

When Tasha felt ready to pull away from their kiss, she did so with a smile as she threw herself onto her bed. Jake watched Tasha position herself in the centre of the bed, and as soon as she had spread her legs, he knelt between them and began to kiss and stroke her ankles as his requested journey began.

“Perfect, Jake,” Tasha whispered with a beaming smile.

Jake made sure he allowed Tasha all the time that she required to enjoy the kisses at each stop they made on their journey. He also told Tasha to tell him if his pace and intensity needed a tweak. She never had to. With no guidance required, Tasha’s input consisted only of noises and short phrases of approval and joy, together with brief descriptions of the effect Jake’s work was having on her body.

“Absolute bliss here, Jake,” Tasha gasped, as she felt his fingertips and pursed lips rise sweetly onto her thighs.

Despite a real danger that Tasha might yet fall short of what she hoped for, the pleasure of the search for it had already been unforgettable and brought her immense pleasure. Tasha’s heart thumped as Jake’s lips rose once more, and the beauty of feeling his breath between her legs sent an erotic shudder through her body, and laughter that rang out around the bedroom.

“Hot diggety dog!” Tasha purred as her excited clit thumped and swam in a river of delight.

Jake couldn’t help shaking with laughter as Tasha updated her mood in a unique fashion. It was just the turn of phrase needed at that moment, and it guaranteed that any lingering seriousness would be banished.

Tasha welcomed the sensation of Jake’s tongue moving inside her eager body with a sigh and a sound of rising excitement. Jake had been given his instructions and been happy to accept them, and Tasha knew this meant Jake didn’t care how long it might take to kill the beast.

With her fingertips slipping through his hair, Tasha felt the combined thrill of Jake’s circling tongue and pursed lips combining beautifully inside her body. As with all else, everything was unrushed, but Jake remained vigilant regarding any sudden need to up the tempo.

“Getting paid by the hour was a smart move, Jake,” Tasha joked as her body continued to keep to its own schedule.

Hearing Tasha’s upbeat comment reminded Jake of the trust she had placed in him and of his determination to keep his promise to play his part in their erotic journey for as long as it was what she wanted. His own insecurities meant he was almost relieved Tasha hadn’t decided to change tack, as he felt far more hopeful and focused in his present position than he would have done in others she might have felt worth exploring.

Tasha closed her eyes briefly as Jake kissed inside her aroused body. When she did so, her mind stirred pictures of the present, not the past. To some, this might have seemed a minor detail, but Tasha felt otherwise.

“I’m seeing now,” Tasha whispered as she sought to spur Jake on. Jake took his cue from the sound of Tasha’s words rather than their content; his kisses and touch delivered with increased intensity.

Jake’s response to the words he had heard sent an immediate surge of excited arousal that swept through Tasha’s body to a shriek of surprised delight. It was a noise Tasha felt needed no further explanation, and Jake tried to ensure his next work imitated what had been appreciated and enjoyed.

Tasha realised immediately that Jake knew he had hit on something he sensed was a winner. She felt him do all he could to repeat his movement, which not only worked but also filled Tasha’s heart with joy at his consideration for her.

Jake sucked and licked relentlessly as Tasha’s dream stayed alive. A gathering heat was now warming her entire body and pictures of earlier shared kisses flashed before her eyes. Tasha held her breath as another wave of excitement washed inside her, and her head began to rock with each sound that rang out from her mouth.

With each passing moment, Tasha’s sounds and visions became more surreal. She could feel beads of perspiration on her skin and hear her breathing noises labouring. She realised she would need to tell Jake to give it everything, but he sensed it and began to do so just as Tasha was about to issue the instruction.

“Everything, Jake,” Tasha screamed, as she felt her body twitching and Jake’s hands sit more firmly on her hips to steady her. Jake’s kisses drew deeply, his tongue lashed frantically, and waves of erotic joy washed over Tasha’s clit and from her body to deafening levels of approval.

As she tasted the salty tears of joy she had wept, Tasha pressed her hands on the top of Jake’s head as her mind was overtaken by wild desire. Jake’s next kiss was deeper and held longer than any that had preceded it and sent Tasha smashing through her last unwanted defences and into the treasured beauty of a breathtaking climax.

Screams, laughter, howls, and cries tumbled from Tasha’s mouth as Jake fought to restrain the uncontrolled spasms in her body. Jake’s kisses continued to plunder Tasha as the chaos of her climax swamped her. Tasha’s release was rolling on spectacularly, and the work being done to ensure this was as thoughtful and focused as it had been throughout.

Each time Tasha felt her beautiful experience might fade; she felt another barrage of erotic expression tear from within. The cries that rang out were joined by laughter, as Tasha simply savoured it all in disbelief.

When Tasha had explained everything in her note, she had told Jake how her past terror meant her future pleasure could not touch on anything she associated with it. To give him the responsibility she had done had seemed unreasonable, almost cruel, but what Tasha had seen in Jake as a person had made her dare to dream, and he had made that dream come true.

Tasha had no urge or reason to tell Jake to ease off, and he had no desire to until she did. What they were sharing had aroused Jake every bit as much as Tasha, and hearing Tasha’s joyful cries meant this continued to be the case.

Jake’s laughter at Tasha’s repeated phases of climax was his way of expressing his own joy. Had Tasha not been so engrossed in her own world and had heard it, she would have understood and approved without hesitation. Fun and erotic release were inseparable in both of their minds.

Once Tasha felt her mind and body could take no more, she gestured to Jake, who drew back immediately. Tasha opened her arms, needing to experience her climbdown in Jake’s arms, and she did exactly that.

It was no surprise to Tasha that Jake treated the latest phase of what they were sharing as of equal importance to all that had gone before. To Tasha, the experience had begun as soon as Fiona had been called into work, and the time spent in their embrace was just another beautiful piece of it.

Jake shared Tasha’s view on what they had created, and no words were needed to confirm this. It was left to the sound of a passing fire engine to break up the party, although Tasha chose something else as her topic of conversation.

“If Fiona sends me a message to ask me how our evening went, what do I tell her?” Tasha asked Jake casually with a grin,

“I expect your reply might be a little different in style, as I know what ladies can be like, but I wouldn’t have it any other way,” Jake replied.

Jake never asked Tasha or Fiona about the messages they exchanged about the evening. Their friendship was as important to Jake as it was to the women involved.

For his part, Jake explained it felt special and a part of something he would be thrilled to expand further, should it seem appropriate for those involved. Jake’s view was one that Tasha shared, and whilst they made no firm plans or commitments, they knew circumstances would see them deciding what could work.

Tasha knew that she could enjoy a joy rediscovered at any time with the man who had made that possible. She also knew that if she felt the time had come to challenge other demons from her past, a man firmly centred in the present would be first in line to be asked to help.
