A Valentine’s Secret

The third part of Naughty or Nice…

Sophie smoothed her dress nervously as she stepped into the Valentine’s Day gala. The deep red satin clung to her curves, the sweetheart neckline and delicate lace straps exuding elegance. It had been nearly two months since that unforgettable New Year’s Eve with James, and the memory still lingered on her skin.

But tonight, something felt different.

As she scanned the ballroom, she caught sight of James near the bar, looking devastatingly handsome in a charcoal suit with a crimson tie that matched her dress. His gaze locked onto hers, and for a moment, the world fell away.

“Still stealing the show, I see,” James teased as he approached, his voice sending shivers down her spine.

“Maybe,” Sophie said, tilting her head coyly. “But only because you’re watching.”

His eyes darkened, a flicker of the desire that had consumed them twice before. “I always am.”

They fell into easy conversation, but Sophie couldn’t shake the secret she’d been carrying for weeks. She hadn’t told anyone yet—not even James. How could she? It was still so new, and she was still trying to process it herself.

“I have something for you,” James said, breaking her thoughts.

He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small velvet box. Sophie’s breath caught, but when he opened it, she found not a ring but a delicate gold necklace with a heart-shaped pendant.

“For Valentine’s,” he said, his voice soft. “I saw it and thought of you.”

“It’s beautiful,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper as he fastened it around her neck.

James’s fingers lingered on her shoulders, his touch sending warmth through her. “You’re beautiful.”

The rest of the evening passed in a blur of stolen glances and lingering touches. The chemistry between them was undeniable, and Sophie knew it was only a matter of time before they ended up alone again.

As the party wound down, James took her hand, leading her out onto the terrace. The night was crisp, the air cool against her skin, but James’s presence was enough to keep her warm.

“You’ve been quiet tonight,” he said, his tone curious.

Sophie hesitated, her heart pounding. She knew she couldn’t keep it to herself any longer.

“James,” she began, her voice trembling, “there’s something I need to tell you.”

He turned to face her, his brow furrowing slightly. “What is it?”

She took a deep breath, her hands trembling as she placed them over her stomach. “I’m… I’m pregnant.”

For a moment, James just stared at her, his expression unreadable. Then, to her surprise, he broke into a grin.

“You’re serious?” he asked, his voice filled with something between awe and disbelief.

Sophie nodded, tears welling up in her eyes. “I found out a few weeks ago. I wasn’t sure how to tell you.”

James cupped her face in his hands, his thumbs brushing away the tears that had started to fall. “Sophie, this is incredible.”

“It is?” she asked, her voice shaky.

“Of course it is,” he said, pulling her into his arms. “I mean, it’s unexpected, but… it’s us. We’ll figure it out.”

Relief flooded through Sophie as she melted into his embrace. For weeks, she had worried about how he would react, but now, all she felt was joy.

James pulled back slightly, his eyes locking onto hers. “You have no idea how happy you’ve made me.”

The emotion in his voice brought fresh tears to her eyes, and she leaned up to kiss him. It was a kiss filled with promise, a new chapter in their story unfolding with every beat of their hearts.

As they stood there on the terrace, the city lights twinkling around them, Sophie realized she had never been more certain of anything in her life.

James pulled back from their embrace on the terrace, his hands still resting on Sophie’s waist as if he couldn’t bear to let her go. His gaze softened, a mix of tenderness and excitement swirling in his dark eyes.

“You’ve completely stolen my heart, Sophie,” he said, his voice low and full of emotion.

Before she could reply, he swept her off her feet, quite literally.

“James!” Sophie gasped, laughing despite herself as he carried her bridal style back toward the building. “What are you doing?”

“Making sure we celebrate this properly,” he said with a grin, his tone taking on a familiar, teasing edge. “You’re not getting away from me tonight.”

Heads turned as they re-entered the ballroom, Sophie clinging to James, her cheeks flushing at the attention. But James didn’t seem to care. His confidence, his single-minded focus on her, made her feel like the only person in the world.

He carried her down a quieter hallway, past rows of offices that had been mostly abandoned for the evening’s festivities. Finding an unlocked door, he pushed it open with his shoulder and stepped inside, setting her down gently on the large mahogany desk.

The room was dimly lit, the only light coming from the city skyline visible through the floor-to-ceiling windows. It created a sense of intimacy, the world outside forgotten as James stepped between her legs, his hands resting on her thighs.

“Now,” he murmured, his voice dropping an octave as he leaned in close, “where were we?”

Sophie’s breath hitched as his lips found hers, the kiss slow and deliberate, igniting a familiar heat between them. His hands slid up her thighs, pushing the fabric of her dress higher until it bunched around her hips.

“James,” she whispered, her voice trembling with both nerves and anticipation.

He pulled back just enough to meet her gaze, his expression softening. “Are you okay?”

She nodded, her hands finding their way to his chest, fingers tracing the hard lines of his body beneath the fabric of his shirt. “I’m more than okay.”

Her words seemed to ignite something in him. He captured her lips again, this time with more urgency, his hands exploring her curves as if memorizing every inch of her. Sophie responded in kind, her fingers tugging at his tie, loosening it before moving to the buttons of his shirt.

The room filled with the sound of their heavy breathing, mingled with the rustle of fabric as clothing was shed piece by piece. James lifted her effortlessly, pulling her to the edge of the desk as his lips trailed down her neck, leaving a trail of fire in their wake.

“You drive me crazy,” he murmured against her skin, his hands gripping her hips as if to anchor himself.

Sophie gasped as his lips found the sensitive spot just below her ear, her head falling back as his touch grew bolder. His fingers slid beneath the lace of her panties, teasing her until she was trembling, her body arching into him.

“James,” she breathed, her voice a plea.

He didn’t need further encouragement. With a deft motion, he rid her of the last barrier between them, his own clothes following quickly. When he finally joined their bodies, the sensation was so overwhelming it drew a soft cry from her lips.

The rhythm they found was both urgent and tender, their movements a perfect harmony of need and connection. James’s hands roamed her body, his touch both possessive and reverent, as if he couldn’t get enough of her.

Sophie clung to him, her nails digging into his shoulders as waves of pleasure built within her, each one more intense than the last. Their breaths mingled, their moans filling the room as they lost themselves completely in each other.

When the climax came, it was like a dam breaking, the intensity leaving Sophie trembling in his arms. James held her close, his forehead resting against hers as they both struggled to catch their breath.

For a long moment, neither of them spoke, the silence filled only by the faint hum of the city outside.

Finally, James broke the silence, his voice a soft murmur. “You’re amazing, Sophie. And I’m not just talking about that.”

She laughed softly, her cheeks still flushed. “You’re not so bad yourself.”

He smiled, brushing a strand of hair from her face. “I meant what I said earlier. You’ve completely stolen my heart. And now…” He placed a hand gently over her stomach, his expression full of wonder. “Now, you’ve given me something I never even realized I wanted.”

Sophie’s eyes filled with tears, but this time, they were tears of joy. She leaned up to kiss him, the gesture filled with all the emotions she couldn’t put into words.

As they dressed and prepared to return to the party, Sophie couldn’t help but feel a sense of peace. Whatever challenges lay ahead, she knew they would face them together.
