The Collide

"For someone who is always on my mind."

Everything dims around me,

a bulb’s filament fading fast,

the light along warm bodies cautiously receding when we reach for one another,

our naked shapes like two darkened continents afloat,

struggling to collide in our new forms.

Consuming me now as much as the first time I tried to unravel your mysterious layers,

the clues and fissures bringing us closer to entwining,

closer to where we can’t tell where the other ends or begins.

You connecting the invisible traces between skin unfolding,

a secret for our sealed lips alone,

for our calm hands to build and fan the inevitable fires that sweep through us.

Everything pulls and sways us together,

every curve of your glowing form a knot begging to be untied,

our naked shapes an art for two to collide with,

learn the countless subtleties of.

Consuming me with colors, layers, and timing,

the beautiful notes two make,

the chords your whispers still me with,

closer to seeing this is more than just a cycle of merging and splitting,

to showing you it’s love my fingertips make,

hunger and rhythm sliding inside.

You connecting this aching storm nearing your most delicate border,

petals unfolding and taking me where our tangled forms sweat and slide,

where the inevitable collide is heat beyond fires, illuminating and sweeping through us.
