The Links That Chain Us

Font Size

From the earth’s mysterious depths,

the links that chain us speak

and scream through my bones.

With bodies strewn across the bed,

the course to you is perfect and immediate

when your hand grasps mine,

when I touch your face

the meeting is infinite,

the heat blooming is unstoppable.

Nearly blinding and flashing us out of existence

with the lights we’ve sparked,

the room settles and only your figure remains,

it’s the center, has become gravity and the universe to me.

I will follow without question the fabrics,

the luminous trails made in the above

that could never before cradle life,

only watch what time strips from us.

And while this passage sews together and splits our flesh

from the earth’s mysterious depths,

your bones hum with my voice calling out for you,

because the links that chain us

do not know time’s immensity.

Only that the distance between

these bodies must close.

The course to you is perfect and immediate,

the union’s pull unstoppable,

this joining and aching fluid rhythm blinds,

consumes our existence with the entrance

I fill as the room heats with us,

only your figure remains,

it’s the center, has become

all breath and life.

I will follow without question the

path nails make along our backs,

the sliding and writhing dance made

where life forms and locks time away from us.

And while this passage merges and floods

every chamber of us with ecstasy,

from your mysterious depths

my bones will cry out for you,

because the links that chain us do

not know silence’s immeasurable lonely sprawl,

yet knows that the distance between these bodies must close.

The course to you is perfect and immediate,

I will follow without question.
