Somniloquy On A Midwinter’s Eve

"Sonnet #5: In trimeter and Spencerian rhyme"

Font Size

Shivering, reviling
Fading horrid nightmares,
Shoot straight upright, smiling.
Lust, love, and dear despair

Rendered naked and bare,
Lurk beneath Winter’s ice-
Trapped in nearest nowhere.
Just a roll of the dice

From wine and sacrifice,
A grand soliloquy-
Apologies, paradise.
Purest ventriloquy.

Heat within burns again,
Pricks like pins, tastes like sin.
