Our Souls Meet on the Bay

Font Size

The weekend has come finally we both are saying
We wake early get ready to go and pack the car
Windows down sunroof open and music playing
The sun warming us thankfully the drive is not far

As each mile passes we feel the layers of our souls
Peel back and expose the scars and revealing
Old scars dent and dings each needing the other to feel whole
Reaching out and touching again it’s twin now healing

Arriving at our slip our second home awaits
Supplies unloaded food fishing poles suits for bathing today
All problems we both agree get left at the gates
We don’t need plans or a destination we’ll just play

Leaving safe harbor for a day on the water bright and so blue
The sun out and the winds blowing boat gently rocking
Reminds me of times in your arms soothing assuring as I look up at you
All is good we have each other today no responsibilities knocking

We love the bay with all it’s charms no matter the weather
Fishing reading swimming or just silently communing
The farther away we travel our souls slowly get better
Renewing things once lost love patience all things consuming

Our souls intertwined their centers touching now
Our wounds have healed for today
A gift we are grateful we make it work somehow
It has that special magic our soul mending Chesapeake Bay.
