An Ever Comforting Calm

Font Size

Her voice called to me stirring the trees
Singing softly and sweetly in fall’s gentle breeze

Enveloped I was found in a comforting bouquet
The fragrant scent of her soul beckoned me to stay

Illumined by the late slanting afternoon sun
Her light touched my eyes, I had nowhere to run

Presently unaware, I watched as she slipped
From the edge descending, my heart faltered and skipped

By the good grace and timely fortune of fate
In the right place and moment, thankfully I was not late

With feet firmly planted and heavy of heart
Arms opened to catch her, I’d been there from the start

Into her eyes I gaze and gently brush away her hair
Safely held in my arms, she need not have a care.

Within the depth of my heart, thoughts of her swim
Ever present, near or far, I hold her dearly within

Now my heart clearly hears her love’s gentle song
Surrounding my soul in an ever comforting calm
