Intricate Girl…

        Each sunrise brings new adventure
              Each sunset, a new dream.

             I chase the images through
                Your labyrinthine mind,
             Running, prancing playfully
Trying to capture them with my butterfly net,
And return them to you in poems.
        Poems deserving of your brilliance,
Calling upon the muses for guidance
Yet, my efforts merely yielding languid prose.
I poke and prod the words,
Coaxing them to whirl and dance for you,
Wishing they would sing and caress your ears
         With whispers of ethereal melody.

                     My intricate girl…
Carrying with you a mysterious heart
          Filled with brownstones that line
           Picturesque Manhattan streets,
Leading to dimly lit back alleys
               That hold stories of love,
               Stories of filthy romance.
            Lesbian lovers holding hands
Sharing a cigarette as they lean
              Heavily into one another.
The pale, yellow glow of a streetlamp
Cascading down illuminating the misty air,
Framing their shape into a single silhouette.

                  My complicated girl…
             Making my life simple with
                    Your fanciful love.
