Ashes to Ashes

Font Size

It was a while back

That I noticed this young shoot.

Watching her grow,

I didn’t expect to see her come to blossom

Quite so soon.

And yet …. Somehow I knew

she was going to stand out.

What you might not see,

She is a cutting from a damaged plant,

From the ashes she came,

Like a Phoenix rising from flame.

Now grafted and nurtured,

Towards translucent beauty.

Her colours ready to burst on the world.

Her petals subtle shades from the crimson of blood to the softest yellows.

A painted lady flutters by dances on her inmost parts.

Pollen given, pollen shared.

Nature builds its future,

And beauty is adorned.

As I walk in and tend my garden,

She has a special place in my heart.
