Her beloved tore her heart asunder
In a place she was made to believe was home
Later, she learned about his lies and deception
After her heart was mangled and thrown.
A stranger found her discarded bleeding heart
In the midst of a raging storm devoid of peace
Like a valuable treasure every man must keep
He picked up every broken piece.
Treated with respect and sewed with kindness,
He cleansed the pain that her lover brought,
Safely wrapped in solace in his warm embrace,
He brightened the darkness of her deep thought.
When the sun was out with a sky so blue
He adored its imperfect, broken beauty,
Offered the freshest flowers abloom and,
Held delicately with an assiduous attention-like duty.
It made her wonder, escaping her oblivion
How he can care so much selflessly
To a nobody’s shattered heart
To something already considered unlovely.
A myriad of mutilation in venerable view
He bared his pure soul and showed his heart
She saw beyond the scars of his Plutonian past
Between the sewn but still jagged parts.
He said to her, “Once upon a time
It was strongly beating and most beautiful
Wrecked by my life, my betrothed inamorata, my life,
Jettisoned to nowhere, worse than that of a futile tool.
I was lost and harrowed with shame and misery
Drowned in desolation and didn’t want to be found
Deep in the abyss of no worth and despondency
Someone brought me to the hilt back to the ground.”
He was told with ample prudence
That people come and go, while some stay
Some bring meaning and blessing
Some as an experience for learning.
That each heart howbeit ruined
Is nevertheless worth true loving care
She thought and knew that she’s undeserving but
He gave hers his all, more than he should share.
One day, he told her that she can wend to her will
For her heart was beating full of love again
She fixed her with a new life and happiness to no end
Void of emptiness, much stronger after the pain.
She moved forth as she was told
Each step was taking her life away in vain
She looked back and saw the agony in his tears
For a home is not a place but his heart is.
