Night and Day

"Thoughts of an absent lover"

Font Size

This is a first effort at publication. Please be gentle.

It is twilight – that wonderful time between day and night

That the French call l’heure bleue – the blue hour.

As I look out over the water, the infinite horizon where it meets the sky

I wonder if you are looking at the sky now thinking of me

As I am thinking of you and remembering

Your kisses and caresses, your tender embrace

Warming me all night.

We drifted off to sleep when last together

After lovemaking so delicious that

Our orgasms left us both light-headed

Falling, dizzy, into a deep sleep

Utterly spent and content.

You woke me in the night

And took me again – took me

Because it was more savage, less sweet than before

Intense and quick, but no less satisfying.

Morning came, as it always does,

With the sun streaming in

And you waking me with yet more kisses.

When you are away, twilight always makes me

Think of you and of our nights and days together

Wanting to start all over again.
